Why I think college sports are lame

Yeah, I said it.  College sports are lame.

I’m a sports fan, and a Philadelphia fan (in that order; I’m no homer).  But with all of the NCAA buzz about March Madness, I’m reminded there are 2 camps of sports fans: those who like college sports and those who don’t.

I don’t.  Probably because I went to a school that isn’t exactly a bastion of athletic prowess (Princeton).

My argument against college sports goes like this: A few select athletes on each college team have a prayer of sniffing the pros, everyone else is mediocre at best. These superstars shine brighter because their competition is weaker. Put them in the pros and they’re on a more level playing field, which, to me, is better “sport”.  Besides, college players get “paid” too.

Care to differ?  Leave your argument in the comments.

Oh, and in case you’re curious, my preference of sporting events goes like this:

  1. NFL
  2. MLB
  3. NHL
  4. College Football
  5. College Hockey
  6. College Basketball (because the crowd cares more than an NBA game)
  7. NBA
  8. College baseball

But Curling, Ski jumping, & NFL Preseason probably fall between 5 and 6. Paint drying is somewhere between 7 and 8.
